another one of the illustrations for the medieval "fairy-tale"-like book i was illustrating recently
:giggle:as you may see it's a portrait of a regular mediaval family, possibly a little kitchy scene from an early childhood of the main heroine (the little one at the right), i cannot say that i totally "feel" the atmosphere of early middle ages^^;(maybe anyone feels like buying me some simple time machine so i could really go there, see and feel it,huh?) still i was pleased with how some parts of it turned out to look like(for instance i was rather pleased with how the little heroine looked like here, and clouds and the sky)

... This is so dimensional it looks like paper cutouts as seen in reality. It's got that and the same beautiful detail you always have. Spectacular stuff.

If the feeling drops out of your bones, would you kindly pick it up.

Methinks there's a woeful lack of portraits of mediaeval families on DeviantART! :)

You should sell that book you're drawing for because some people would buy it just for the pics! XD

 Yes, more Basia-llustrations. Always makes for a good evening :D

They all seem like very distinct personalities - I like that. I'm an older brother, so I feel drawn to the boy on the far left first, he looks disciplined and proud, but a maybe a little too dutiful. The second on is the rebellious one, but since he leans on his elder brother, he probably isn't quite as rebellious as he'd like to believe. The third one looks forlorn, a little dreamer and that makes him sympathetic to me as well.
The father looks strong and confident, watching over his family. The mother is pleased, viewing her girl with pride and hopes her to be intelligent and sensitive - although I must admit, the little heroine looks much more adventurous than all the others (and will probably foil her mother's hopes), like she'd walk right out of the image into her story. The only one who could actually leave this family and go on an adventure.

It looks like you took a little self-made time machine, actually and went there with a camera, explained them what and how and there-you-shall-stand and drew from the picture you took. It's not historical medieval, but it's your kind of medieval and that is great :D

The technique is beautiful and unique (the castle towers rising from the autum forest are wonderful and very Polish - to me, at least).

Again, great image

A dasz znać, kiedy książeczka będzie wydawana i pod jakim tytułem? Chętnie bym się przyjrzała gotowej :).
