it was supposed to be a collaboration with Lottie, the lovliest girl ever, it's a mixture of her adorable photo, my photo of a train, and her thoughts on dead coyotes, and little elements drawn by me,
well unfortunately I'm not pleased enough with how I did that, even though I kind of like the atmosphere, so I'll move it to scraps soon, but I'm sure the topic of Lottie on a train will return to me in the future with some far better realization
ha ha ha ha. I love it, Basia you are always putting works that most of us would kill (well, maim) to be able to make into scraps. I think I see what you aren't happy with, but the atmosphere is so great. It's a keeper. I also can't wait to see another interpretation of the subject.
You really integrated everything very well. (I love the fact that you made a creature far more terrifying than any coyote I've ever seen and made it behaving in ways far more gentle than any coyote I've ever seen.) It was very smart to fill the middle of the frame with the coyote. It brings us into that dreamy acceptance of the image before we notice that Lottie is the real subject. It also makes it more difficult to see that it is a photo-manipulation as much as a digital painting.
Ah Basia. You're so self-depreciating that it is lovable. You know that we love everything you do, but I'm so amazed at your high standards--it's what makes your work so good.
I like how you didn't make the coyote fluffy and cuddly, yet he still seems gentle. An interesting and well-played balance. Seems more real and dreamlike at the same time. A real dream?
