February

You almost do not notice him. Someone mentioned a river, or rather a little rivulet with pieces of ice floating in it and that made you think of February. You are certain you would not have noticed him otherwise. You danced with him once - or rather it seemed you were competing for some prize hidden in each others bodies, something birdlike to be coaxed from your throat and fingers and the tips of your hair. He is soft-spoken, very articulate but you cannot, for the life of you, remember what he just said. "Very interesting," you mutter, unconvincingly. The color grey makes you think of him, but you do not like looking at grey.

I like it :D He seems so mysterious and lonely that one has a hard time deciding whether to look at him or to look away - just the kind of feeling that is conveyed in the text :highfive: The caged birds and the claw like hands almost make his appear a little scary and directs attention to the word "birdlike" in the text, as does his sad, birdlike face...I wonder where he got these birds and where he's carrying them (maybe a future story waiting to happen)...

A beautiful illustration that I am very happy to recieve :) :cuddle: Thank you, you hard-working lovely, especially since you had to do two versions :manhug:

i'm very glad you liked it:):manhug:
oh, the birds - they're not really birds, you know, they're "something birdlike", you know i imagine February must've competed for the "something birdlike" with quite a few "you's" and he must have won and coaxed the somethings from many throats and many fingers and many tips of hair, and how he's carrying the "prizes" with him everywhere, i thought the "birdlike somethings" could be some "personificated"(oh well,"birdificated" i mean;)) white snowflakes that February usually brings, at least to Poland
and you're welcome, February was my personal favourite and i enjoyed illustating him a lot:nod:, i hope you'll get to have other months illustated by better illustrators though and with even better results:fingerscrossed: (well, "Febrary" kind of "per se" wasn't supposed to be particularly visually attractive illustration, was it? since he was to be "almost unnoticable" "not liked to be looked at" "grey" etc., don't you think?)
:iconcharonferryman:
Oh, that's a beautifully bittersweet description of something birdlike (the bitter part being that they are like prizes or trophies), but the sweet part being that they are the snowflakes that February brings - which in turn makes his seductions somehow necessary and ineluctable if he wants to bring snow...a beautiful idea, very fitting :) Knowing that, the somethings birdlike suddenly have a lot more personality :D
I think he has just the right mixture of intrigue and ivisibility (but don't you go fishing for compliments, you :shakefist: ;) I am absolutely happy that I managed to win such a talented illustrator to do the first illustration  :manhug:)

It sounds like a very interesting project, I'll check it out! You've depicted him very well here.

Beautiful piece. The birds look like they're half-snow and half-downy feathers. It's all very sweet and lonely.

Q: How many lawyers does it take to roof a house?
A: Depends how thin you slice 'em.

Very pretty... I really like how you created the atmosphere... It's a very interesting idea... The character it's very expressive and the bird cages are a great original touch...

It's a little hard for me to picture February like that, since I live on the other side of the world and for me February is one of the hottest months of the year, when the carnival is celebrated... still it's a very interesting perspective...
